Dental Exams

What is a Dental Exam?

A dental exam is a comprehensive checkup of your teeth, gums, and overall oral health, performed by Dr. Teel during a routine visit. It typically includes a visual inspection, digital x-rays if needed, and a professional cleaning by one of our dental hygienists. Dr. Teel will also screen for signs of cavities, gum disease, oral cancer, and other concerns that may not be visible or causing symptoms yet.

When should you schedule a Dental Exam?

Most patients should have a dental exam every six months, but Dr. Teel may recommend a different schedule based on your individual needs. For example, patients with a history of gum disease, frequent cavities, or ongoing dental treatments may benefit from more frequent checkups. Even if you’re not experiencing pain or symptoms, regular exams are key to staying ahead of potential problems and keeping your smile strong and healthy.

Why do Dental Exams Matter?

Regular dental exams are essential for maintaining a healthy smile and preventing small issues from becoming big (and expensive) problems. Early detection of tooth decay, gum disease, or other oral health issues can save you discomfort, time, and money. Dental exams also provide an opportunity for Dr. Teel to offer guidance on your hygiene habits, diet, and any necessary treatments to support your long-term oral and overall health.
